Natural Cosmetics - Personal Care For Computer Eyes

Making your own natural cosmetics is fun, rewarding and good for you. Did you know that the cosmetic industry is not regulated by the FDA? Which means they can add chemicals to your personal care products that are known to cause cancer, digestive problems, allergies, etc. And the sad story is, they do. Doesn't make any sense to me. That is why I make my own products or buy products that are 100% natural. By 'natural cosmetics' I mean anything in the personal care field. That includes toothpaste, eye drops, lotions, hair care, anything you put on your body.

"Happiness is the absense of striving for happiness." Chuang Tzu

I want to stress the fact that everything we put on our skin soaks into the body. What enters the body ends up in the blood supply which touches every cell we have. What enters the blood get filtered by the liver. Our cells contain our DNA which can be altered by chemicals causing that dreaded D word, disease. Our livers can also be harmed by chemicals foreign to the body. You can't live without a liver. The next time you brush your teeth, put lotion on, wash your hair, polish your nail, or put eye drops in your eyes (I treasure my eye sight) think about what you are putting in your body. (I treasure my body too!) Making your own natural cosmetics or personal care products is healthy for your body and soul. Just working with herbs can be relaxing and fulfilling.

e-numbers on baby wipe label

E-numbers are located at the bottom right hand corner under the UPC code on this container of baby wipes.

What are e-numbers?

E-numbers are a set of numbers on the label of personal care items that stand for chemicals that do not have to be listed on the label. Now that is scary. It is bad enough to read what is listed. Some ingredients are terrible and some are not. Here are some sites to find out what the e-numbers stand for:

I hope finding out just what is in most personal care items will interest you in making your own natural cosmetics.
