Breathing exercises

-this exercise helps increase lung capacity, meaning more oxygen in the lungs. It also helps calm stress. I do this at night while lying in bed and it puts me right to sleep.

First breath out all the air you can. Then breath in through your abdomen first then fill your lungs, count to four while you do this. Next hold the breath for 7 seconds. Then breath out for 8 seconds, pushing all the air you possibly can out of your lungs and abdomen. Repeat this 4 times. I feel flushed when I am done. I can feel that my body got more oxygen and am warm all over. This will help increase your lung capicity and circulate more oxygen to the rest of the body too. It's great!

Your stress level could very well go down if you practice this once or twice a day. It is a great stress reliever. Another way to reduce stress is meditation. Just sit quietly, concentrate on your breath and let the outside world go. Quieting the mind takes time, but it is a great way to understand how we treat ourselves. I can sit and listen to my heart beat and feel the blood running through my veins. It is awsome. It does take years of practice, but the journey is an experience in itself.

So you realize that smoking causes lung cancer. Well so do I. I only wish it were that easy to quit. I obviously can't harp at you to quit, I'm not a hippocrite. But please do everything in your power to protect yourself. Keep a positive attitude- enjoy life- eat healthy- avoid as many hazards as you can- use herbs and vitamins to keep your immune system healthy- and use breathing exercises to keep the air and oxygen flowing. Laugh! You just can't not feel good when you laugh. The better you feel, the better you heal.
