Home Remedy for Sinus Infection
A home remedy for sinus infection usually works best if it is started as soon as the trouble begins. If you let a sinus infection go without treating it, it can spread to other parts of the body. Check to make sure you don't have an infected tooth that may be causing it. A sinus infection or sinustitis is an inflammation in the sinus cavities which are behind the eyes, forehead, nose and cheekbones. The cause is usually bacteria, viruses, or allergic reactions. And like I just said make sure it is not an infected tooth. The signs and symptoms are -headaches -pain -postnasal drip -cough -facial tenderness -sometimes fever It is so many years before one can believe enough in what one feels even to know what the feeling is. Home Remedy for Sinus Infection My favorite remedy is to irrigate the nasel cavities with salt water. Mix about 1/2 TBSP salt (I use sea salt) in 1 cup of warm water. Use a bulb syringe (ear syringe) to suck up some of the mixture. Gently squeeze it into one nostril at a time. I do this several times until it runs out the other one. Repeat often. This cleans out the thick mucus and releives the pressure. It also kills the infection. Another home remedy for sinus infection Use 2 drops of grapefruit seed extract in 1 cup of warm water and use the same as above. Grapefruit seed extract works well to kill the infection. It could burn a little if you use too much. It is extremely concentrated and strong. You don't use it at all unless you dilute it. You can also put up to 10 drops in a glass of water or juice, or tea and drink it. It tastes horrible, but it does work. More remedies Drink lots of fresh squeezed pinneaple juice. It contains the enzyme bromelain which is very helpful.

Echinacea, goldenseal and chaparral taken when the symptoms first appear help boost the immune system. Peppermint or elderberry flower tea help when there is a fever. Cayenne and garlic help fight infection. Equal parts of powdered clove, cayenne pepper, and ginger mixed with warm water (use 1 tsp mixture in 1 cup water) used as a gargle help get rid of a sore throat and clean the mucus in the sinuses. Horseradish with a drop of lemon juice placed in the mouth can clear plugged nasal passages. Put a drop or 2 of any of the following in a small pot of water. Eucalyptus and peppermint essential oils (decongestants), and thyme (antibiotic and antifungal). Put the pan on the stove and let it steam. Inhale the steam for up to 15 minutes. You can do this 3 times a day. A moist heat pack over the forehead, eyes and nose should relieve the pain. Dry powdered ginger and preed lotus root made into a paste and applies above and below the eyes can also releive pain. Meadowsweet and willow bark contain salicin. This is what aspirin was designed after. They are great for the pain. They are both bitter tasting so it is easier to take them in capsule form. Up to six 400 mg caps a day is recommended. And of course good ole garlic which is natures antibiotic. Eat at least 1 raw clove a day, or take Kyolic aged garlic. Peppermint tea helps drain the sinuses. Or you can add a few drops of peppermint essential oil in a TBSP of olive oil and rub on your temples. Don't get this in your eyes. This helps with a sinus headache. Home remedy for sinus infection caused by allergies Freeze dried stinging nettles work great for allergies. You can buy them in capsules. Use as directed on the bottle. Herbal combinations for allergies which contain mullein and wild cherry work best. The most important thing to remember when you use a home remedy for sinus infection, or any purpose, is that we all react differently to different things. So what works for me may not work for you. Just keep trying different methods, you'll find the right one for you.
