Hepatitis C
Hepatitis C is becoming very widespread. You never used to hear about it until the last five years or so. That may be because the medical field really didn’t have a name for it except non A or non B forms of the virus. Or it could be that most people don’t develop many symptoms for 20-30 years after they became infected. My favorite reason is that the medical field didn't know how to treat hepatitis C with any expensive prescription drugs until the last decade. How HVC is transmitted This particular virus (HVC) is transmitted by blood. The most common ways are through blood transfusions and sharing IV needles when using drugs. It is rarely passed through sex, especially if you only have one partner. It is also rare to pass from mother to unborn baby. I would not recommend sharing a toothbrush or razor blade with anyone. There is some concern that if there is infected blood on the item, and lets say your gums bleed, you could be infected.
If I told patients to raise their blood levels of immune globulins or killer T-cells, no one would know how. But if I can teach them to love themselves and others fully, the same change happens automatically. The truth is: Love heals. Bernie Siegel
Mind, body, and spirit In my opinion the key to keeping this pesty virus at bay is your own mental health. To say you have a disease sounds terrible. It sounds to me like, "that’s it, I’m gonna die from this". I prefer to put it, "I am keeping my immune system healthy to fight this rotten hepatitis C invader, and it won’t get me, I’ll get it first!". This is more powerful to your immune system than most people know. Meditation is a wonderful tool to learn how to control your thoughts. That is to keep the negative ones out. Negativity creates sickness. Learn to be content and happy and health follows. Common symptoms You usually finds out you are infected with hepatitis C by a test ordered by the doctor. That really is the only way to diagnose the problem. Most people go to the doctor because they are tired all the time. That is the most common symptom. If the liver has been affected already you may have signs of jaundice, accumulated fluid in the abdominal region or pain in the upper right part of the abdomen. If you are lucky enough to know you may have been infected before these signs show up ask the doctor to run the necessary tests to find out. Stop loading your liver with toxins from your lotions and oils. Use all natural, chemical free, liver friendly products. Here are some of my recommendations. Helpful supplements -medicinal mushrooms-very anti-viral, Follow the manufacturers instructions. -calcium citrate-1 or 2 1000 mg capsules with food containing iron to block iron absorption or reduce iron levels as much as safely possible (the hepatitis C virus attaches itself to iron in the liver and that is how it causes liver damage) -lactoferrin (apolactoferrin form)-300 mg capsule 3 times a day (a potent immune system booster) -Alpha-lipoic acid-250 mg 3 times a day -N-acetyl-cysteine (NAC)-600 mg once a day -glutathione-500 mg once a day on an empty stomach -selenium-200-600 mg once a day All of the above may help protect the liver from oxidative stress. I personally buy my milk thistle from Mountain Rose Herbs. I haven't found any other company that matches their quality. And they are so friendly! Just real people who love what they do.
Healing herbs -milk thistle-250 mg 3 times a day with food (this can actually rebuild your liver, I highly recommend it) -S-adenosylmethionine (SAMe)-400 mg 3 times a day (this is extremely expensive, do not settle for a non-reputable brand) -garlic-2700 mg once a day (if this causes stomach irritation lower the dose or try a different brand, Kyolic is great) Some people cannot take beta carotene, Vitamin A, or niacin. If you are one that is bothered by these supplements don’t take any multi-vitamins. Of course alcohol is the absolute worst for the liver. Most prescription drugs and over the counter drugs are hard on it. Avoid excess protein in your diet. And stay away from chemicals of any kind as much as you can. Some herbs are harmful to your liver too. Avoid germander, comfrey, chapparal leaf, ma huang, pennyroyal, skullcap, and mistletoe especially if you are infected with the hepatitis C virus. Use this opportunity to listen to your body and learn what it needs. If you need to clean up your lifestyle start working on it. If you need support talk to friends or family.
