Fatty Liver Remedy
The term fatty liver is known in the medical field as Steatosis. It is a fairly common finding in a liver biopsy. It is usually a long standing chronic condition. It is associated with a quite a few diseases. Exposure to toxic substances and taking certain drugs are factors. So are alcohol use, diabetes and obesity. If you don't take care of a fatty liver it can lead to inflammation of the liver, cell death, fibrosis and even cirrhosis. We certainly do not want that to happen so lets do something about it now. I'm not going to tell you to stop drinking alcohol or loose weight. These are the things I'll leave up to common sense. I will give you some of my recommended tools and guidelines to follow. Mother Nature always nows best and usually provides the safest and healthiest remedies. Herbal Remedies for a fatty liver -Milk Thistle-(You will hear about this herb from me often.) 2 capsules twice a day with meals. This herb is fat soluble, which means it should be taken with fatty foods. And I mean good fats like fish oil or olive oil. It is said to help detoxify the liver and also help to rebuild it. Yes the liver can regenerate itself with some help. -Herbal combination-milk thistle, dandelion, artichoke and licorice. This is a great way to heal the liver. All of these herbs work to detox and rebuild. A warning on licorice Can cause high blood pressure when used in large amounts and long term. Always consult with your Healthcare Professional before using. Other supplements -Coenzyme Q 10-depending on the severity of your condition it is recommended to start by taking 30 mg a day with food. Again this is fat soluble and should be taken with some fat at your meal. Q 10 is a powerful antioxidant which is made in your body, but if you are not up to par more than likely you are not making enough. I have read some people take up to 100 mg a day if needed. -SAMe-400 mg three times a day. This is needed to restore liver function. It is also very expensive. Not all brands are reputable so you should do more research. -Fish oil-1000 mg to 5000 mg a day, divided into 2 or 3 doses. These are the omega-3 fatty acids. I highly recommend a brand that contains no mercury. Among other things they may reduce inflammation. They may also help you loose weight. Pretty powerful stuff! -Choline-1500 mg daily. This wonderful stuff may help reduce the amount of fat deposited in the liver. Alright now, you know what might help. You do not need to take all of these suggestions to improve. You may want to try the ones that fit your needs. Of course you can always add more later or just plain ignore any advice I gave you. Always remember to consult with your Healthcare Professional about any herbs or vitamins you take. Some do have adverse effects when combined with certain medications.
