Candida Diet
There are a few varieties of the candida diet. I am going to give you the suggested guidelines for a couple of them. The problem with using a very strict diet is that most people don't stick to it. And as we all know it doesn't work if you don't do it. I have a few recommended candida diets that I think most people can stick to. Things in themselves are always neutral; it is our perception which makes them appear positive or negative. Epictetus
The goals of the candida diet are to kill the yeast (or fungus), flush the dead stuff out of the body, heal the body, and restore the immune system. In fact damage to the liver is often an underlying factor in candidiasis and chronic fatigue. And the liver is actually part of the immune system. This should be the first on the list of priorities of the candida diet. Healing the liver -milk thistle-detoxifies and rebuilds.The standard dose is 70-210 mg three times a day. This herb is a mild laxative. That just means that it is flushing all the bad stuff out. -go to my liver page to see all the beneficial herbs and foods for the liver- Lipiotropic factors These are agents that promote the flow of fat and bile to and from the liver. They clean out the liver and improve liver function and fat metabolism. -choline-1000 mg daily -methionine and/or cysteine-1000 mg daily Promoting elimination -high fiber plant foods- -formulas containing psullium seed, kelp, agar, pectin, karaya and gaur- -the fiber formulas are recommended to be taken at bed time to make sure your body flushes out the dead yeast or fungus. If it isn't it gets reabsorbed. And that can cause more problems. Probiotics These help restore the good bacteria in the gut to fight the candida. Very important part of the candida diet. Candida diet -eliminate refined and simple sugars- -eliminate milk and other dairy products- -eliminate foods with a high content of yeast or mold, like alcohol, cheese, dried fruits, melons and peanuts -eliminate all known or suspected food allergens- -a high potency mutiple vitamin and mineral formula-candida lives on minerals and will deplete your supply. You may want to supplement so you are getting enough. -antioxidants- -1 tablespoon of flax seed oil daily- It is recommended you follow the guidlines above for a month and then start adding the yeast killing herbs and supplements. If you take these first, the body might not react too well. If you aren't eliminating the yeast as you kill it, it will reabsorb as I said earlier. Sometimes a person will go through a 'healing crisis' and feel worse for awhile. That is normal. Other people will feel better right off the bat. That is normal too. Everybody is different and reacts different......Heal Candida with Holistic Treatments Yeast killers -caprylic acid-the standard dosage is 1000-2000 mg time release or enteric coated tablets or capsules with meals -goldenseal, barberry, oregon grape and goldthread-standard dose is 250-500 mg three times a day. Do not take more than recommended and do not take if you are pregnant or nursing. -garlic-one raw clove daily or take capsules adding up to the same amount. -oregano, thyme, peppermint and rosemary enteric coated volatile oils-standard dose is 0.2-0.4 ml twice a day between meals. Choose one. Mental candida diet Highly recommended! -have a good attitude- -deal with stress with positive thoughts- -get lots of rest and sleep- -the body heals much faster when we believe it will. A good attitude and good, happy thoughts help our immune system stay strong. -learn to meditate-this is the best coping method there is in my opinion. It has changed my life by changing the way I look at things. They can always be worse. And there is usually a silver lining somewhere if we look. And if following a candida diet is the worst thing you can think of, well you know what the silver lining is!
Another candida diet This is a cleansing diet to follow for the first two months of healing. -on rising -take cranberry concentrate or lemon juice in water. Or raw unfiltered apple cider vinegar. -breakfast-take a multi vitamin-mineral supplement. Have a poached egg or boiled egg (or 2). You can substitute oatmeal, amaranth or buckwheat pancakes with a little butter, or a vegetable omelette with broccoli, or scrambles eggs with onion, shiitake mushrooms and red pepper. -midmorning-have a vegetable drink (make sure it has no added sugar), or a cup of miso soup, or a cup of pau d' arco tea. -lunch-fresh green salad with lemon/coconut, olive or flax oil dressing, some seafood, chicken or turkey. Or vegetable or miso soup with butter and cornbread. or steamed vegies with brown rice. -mid-afternoon-rice crackers or some raw veggies in lemon/oil dressing. Or a hard boiled or deviled egg with sesame salt. -dinner-a baked, broiled or poached fish or chicken with steamed brown rice or millet with flax oil and veggies, or a stir-fry with brown rice, sea veggies and a miso or broth soup. -before bed-have a cup of chamomile or peppermint tea. Or a cup of miso soup. -Taking fiber and bragg's liquid amino acids are also recommended in this candida diet. There are more variations of foods that go with this candida diet. This is just kind of an overview to give you the feel. This is formulated by Linda Page, N.D., Ph.D. One of her books that I love is Healthy Healing, which this diet came from. Well there you go. You have some information to juggle around. I have known both of these diets to work with some hard work on the paitents part of course.
