Candida and fibromyalgia has been a topic in my e-mail box. I decided to clear up the controversy. The research I have done hopefully will clear up some questions.

Listen to what the experts say, but always rely on your own judgement. Albert Einstein

Let's look at the possible connections between candida and fibromyalgia.

-they both have symptoms of fatigue-

-they both have allergies in common-

-they both can cause diarrhea and irritable bowel-

-they both can cause anxiety and depression-

-they both can cause weakness, headaches, and confusion-

-they both can cause sleep problems-

-they both can cause stomach and digestive problems-

Now let's look at the differences. We'll start with candida.

-severe PMS for women-

-recurring yeast or fungal infections-

-feeling light headed or drunk after eating certain foods, or drinking very little alcohol-

-sinus pressure, hay fever-like attacks, and coughing-

-eye or ear irritation-

-heart palpitations-

The different symptoms of fibromyalgia are the following.

-restless legs-

-not able to exercise much at all-

-sensitivity to light, sound, smell, and touch-

-dry eyes alternating with watery eyes-

-carpel tunnel syndrome-

-tender skin-

-sensitive to the cold-

-numbness or tingling-

As you can see there are definately some different symptoms for candida and fibromyalgia. As well as some similar ones. Lets take a look at some of the causes of candida and fibromyalgia. We'll start with candida.

-antibiotic use-

-stress-

-hormone use, like steroid drugs or birth control pills-

-high sugar, high carbohydrate diet-

Now for the known or suspected causes of fibromylgia.

-viral or bacterial infections-research shows that most fibromyalgia patients have the influenza type A anitbodies in their bodys-

-trauma-like a car accident or some serious trauma to the body-

-chemical or food sensitivities-

-chronic stress-

-mercurytoxicity-could be from dental fillings-

-high levels of substance P (a polypeptide made naturally in the body)-this decreases the serotonin which affects sleep and pain-

-low levels of growth hormones-which affects the muscles-

-another study found a connection with more people infected with the hepatitis C virsus having FMS (fibromylagia syndrome)-

To compare candida and fibromyalgia I would have to say that candida could possibly be an underlying cause of fibromyalgia. It could be the reason for the body to get run down in the first place. Especially if you have taken antibiotics. Fibromylagia is more of an auto-immune disease. It is more closely related to chronic fatigue syndrome.

To get a good idea of what candida and fibromyalgia are all about I can recommend a book written by Linda Page called Healthy Healing. This book covers all aspects of natural healing. It goes into the causes, symptoms, and how to take care of the problem naturally. It is written so anybody can understand it. [HealthyHealing.com ] It is one of the books I used for my Bachlors Degree in Natural Health.

I hope this clears up some of the questions you have about candida and fibromyalgia. I guess in all reality, it kind of leaves us hanging. There may or may not be a connection. Everybody is different and the causes of every ailment can be different in different people. The bottom line is, work on your general health. That will help keep your body strong enough to fight whatever is going on.
