Breast Cancer Symptoms
Breast Cancer symptoms are serious business. Normally early stages of cancer don't show any symptoms. Most cancers are present for up to 30 years before they cause any symptoms. Early detection can definately save your life. There is a light in this world, a healing spirit more powerful than any darkness we may encounter. We sometimes lose sight of this force when there is suffering, too much pain. Then suddenly, the spirit will emerge through the lives of ordinary people who hear a call and answer in extraoridanary ways. Mother Teresa Breast cancer symptoms -a lump or thickening in or near the breast or in the underarm (armpit) area- -a change in the size or shape of the breast- -nipple discharge or tenderness, or the nipple pulled back (inverted) into the breast- -ridges or pitting of the breast (the skin looks like the skin of an orange)- -a change in the way the skin of the breast, areola, or nipple looks or feels (for example, warm, swollen, red, or scaly)- -a dominant breast mass: bloody, brown, or serious discharge from a nipple: and/or breast nodularity or lumpiness are the most common symptoms of breast cancer (according to the Taber's Cyclopedic Medical Dictionary)
-invasive-when abnormal cells break out into the surrounding tissues -carcinoma in situ-situ means in place. This is when abnormal cells grow within the lobules or mammary (milk) ducts and don't spread out into surrounding tissues. -ductal carcinoma in situ-abnormal cells grow inside the hollow mammary ducts. This is a precancerous condition that can turn into cancer. It is not invasive. -lobular carcinoma in situ-growth and accumulation of abnormal cells within the hollow lobules. This is a risk factor for cancer. -paget's disease of the nipple-extremely rare and slow growing. It is important to watch any signs of change because it's symptoms appear to be harmless. Paget's breast cancer symptoms are inflammation or infection of the nipple. Persistent redness, itching, oozing, crusting, and fluid discharge of the nipple or a sore on the nipple that won't heal. Usually only one nipple is affected. -inflammatory breast cancer-also rare, but very aggressive and invasive. Usually not detected by mammograms or ultrasounds. It grows in sheets under the skin so no lumps are involved.
breast swelling, inflammation, pink, red, or a dark colored area. Orange peel skin texture, ridges and thickened areas of the skin. Areas of the breast that are warm to the touch. What appears to be a bruise that won't go away. Itching, increase in breast size over a short period of time. nipple flattening, inverting, or discharge. Sore breasts that don't coincide with your period. Swelling in the lymph nodes above the collar bone.
Early detection
-yes they do dectect some cancers- that was it for my pros, now the cons. -they hurt- -they expose the most sensitive tissue in the body to radiation, which causes cancer- -they don't find small cancers or precancerous conditions-
-thermography-uses a camera that detects heat. The heat patterns are translated into images. This method detect breast cancer symptoms before they turn into cancer. When the breast is cool, the amount of blood that flows into it is reduced. When a cell mutates and starts to become cancerous, the area around it grows more blood vessels to feed it. The more blood that is flowing creates more heat. A thermogram can detect an inflammation, fibrocystic breasts, or benign tumors as well as pre-cancerous, or cancer tissues. It is truely a great step forward.
I have to throw my opinion in here. I have read studies showing that mammograms cause just as many cancers as they detect. Which makes good sense when you know how radiation affects healthy cells. The authorities tell women to start getting mammograms before menopause, which I believe is a lot of bull. When you mix radiation with excess estrogen (which is the leading cause of breast cancer) you are playing with a loaded gun. Money, money, money comes to my mind. If you don't get sick you don't need the doctors, pharmaceutical companies, insurance, and so on. So let us test you for a cancer you may not have, but in the process, you may develop. That is just my own opinion of course. I'm not saying you shouldn't get a mammogram, it is purely a personal choice. I know that thermograms are not available everywhere yet. But I don't think it will be long and they will be the preventive tool of choice for breast cancer.
